Back to the commute

Rode The TS 100 last weekend. What a great weekend, guess sometimes we don't appreciate what we have. I've read numerous race reports and most folks really adore, if that's the right word, where I get to live and ride. That's kind of cool really.

Interested in how my race went, visit MTBR Norcal page, I posted it there. Very fun, but quite a test of my patience. LOL.

To the commute, back in the saddle after a couple rest days. Well one rest day, I ran on Tuesday, ouch. Yep, running...CX is right around the corner, a lil running helps the old legs in those hour grinds.

Only drawback is the legs are dead from the TS 100 and running. Was a good thing this morning though, as it was a strange commute. First, a cop car on the bike trail, tending to a very on fire car that either was abandoned or a homeless person. Marshmellows anyone?

Thinking it odd but enjoying the cool morning I cruised on....about 15 minutes later fate intervened for both me and Peter Cotton Tail. Sorry to say Ksyriums 1, Rabbit 0. I seriously thought I was going over the bars but I guess being on my my CX bike was lucky, rather than getting lodged in caliper brakes, this sad fellow wrapped himself into the left side front Canti.

And really wrapped himself, picture me standing in the dark shaking my bike trying to get the lil buddy to fall off. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. With the passing of another shocked and disgusted commuter, I used my arm warmer to unwrap my sad friend from Canti brake and fork.

Yes, EWWWWWWW. I couldn't even bring myself to drink from my waterbottle on the ride home, just the thought of possible....well you know.

Once Amanda gets home I'm heading out to give the CX bike a good cleaning for tomorrow.

So what's next, a lil poker with my bro in law on Friday and Soccer on Saturday. And of course yardwork and a short ride.

Till next time....Roger Rabbitkiller Lackey...out

Tahoe Sierra on my way...

Tomorrow is "participant" day....looking forward to a fun weekend of riding and hanging out. Amanda was nice enough to not only give me one overnight hall pass but two! This will make getting up early tomorrow a.m. a lil more manageable.

About the race, I was perusing racer blogs and found Deejay and Fuzzy John have been up at French Meadows all week riding. Good for them and it should be fun to see the outcome of both these guys racing the NUE series. Funny thing, I think there'll be a couple to few racers like Dez Wilder, maybe a Conrad Snover (if he's racing), Matt Chaney (if he's on the SS) and even Rich Dillen (if he isn't utterly fatigued) that could cause a few point separation between winning the overall and coming in 2nd. Not to forget Chris Mcgill the right coaster who is currently tied for the overall.

Good stuff in the SS class for sure.

Part of me is sad that I'm not in the kind of "race" shape I'd like to be in to mix it up with these good folks, but alas, I'll take the "participant" prize and treat each aid station like a Farmer's Market of good treats! Not to mention my goal of hopps consumption at every aid station I can. But who knows with that kind of nutrition, I might be able to sneak in with a top ten in the SS class.

By race end, I should easily be able to modify the quote from American Flyers to read: "It may seem like we're drinking together, but I'm really 5 beers ahead!" "Can you hear me, I'm FIVE BEERS AHEAD!"
