Been awhile...

Haven't posted in awhile, been busy with kids, family, work, and some training. Went to the 8 hour Boggs race in the beginning of April. Great time, I was a bit under the weather, but managed to get goal of nine laps. Hooray. It was good to see a number of cycling friends. Dez was drilling it and took the overall on his SS, kid's just riding in another gear compared to the rest of us this year! Plus seeing Yuri, Cameron, Sean Sully, and of course the Allens! Jim Northey let me carpool with him to the event, he's a hoot, it's no wonder why the Coolest is such a fun event.

Amanda has been going crazy with her garden, she's cleared a southern hillside, started making flowerbeds, walkways etc. There are bean TPs and all kinds of other garden things around. She's loving it, as are the kids who look for any excuse to play in the dirt! And me, I'm looking forward to eating the results! LOL. She's also back into Yoga and been on the bike, I'm happy for her, she's had a big smile on her face the last couple weekends she's returned from her ride.

Me, I've been working on a fence. Sean Allen recommended going CalTrans standard to keep from having to do it again. I've got all my posts (including T posts) set and just need to poor the footings for the supports. My plan is to hang the actual fence the weekend after the Coolest. Thank you Sean for your help with the materials and the instructions on doing a good job! Hopefully it's stands straight when I'm done.

Today is one week before the Coolest 24hr race. Looking forward to it and having some fun. I've taken up Mary Allen's saying of rather than racing....I'm a "participant" in the event. Built in excuse to not do well....not really....just keeping my focus on the ride...not the result. ;o) My brother in law John and friend Frank will be there doing support, I'll be putting down money on John being the first to crawl into his sleeping bag.

Plan to do a couple laps of the course tomorrow, Sunday, with Todd. He'll be riding his new Ventana so I'll have to keep some distance from him, you know he's due to drop that thing somewhere as an initiation.

That's all for now....I can hear Rylan stirring from sleep and I need another cup of coffee.
